Worley, a global professional services company of energy, chemicals and resources experts, has been awarded the final FEED contract by First Ammonia for its groundbreaking electric ammonia facility in Victoria on the Gulf Coast of Texas. The facility has an initial anticipated production capacity of 300 metric tons per day and has been designed to allow for further expansion, supporting long-term growth in low carbon energy production.
This will be the first commercial-scale ammonia plant to utilize solid-oxide electrolyzers, which will produce hydrogen from water and electricity through an energy efficient electrochemical process that is 30% more energy efficient than conventional electrolyzers.
Designed for fluctuating operations, the plant will match the availability of renewable energy and contribute to the stability of the local grid. The plant has a simple and modular designlowering construction risk and minimizing total project cost.
