The Port of Victoria in Texas is the perfect site for First Ammonia’s flagship facility thanks to our amazing local partners, well-developed infrastructure, and rich solar and wind resources.
First Ammonia’s flagship facility will help Victoria become the hub for cutting-edge, electric ammonia production. The Port of Victoria site is over 35 miles inland along the Victoria Barge Canal, protecting it from adverse weather events, while allowing efficient transportation of ammonia on barges along the Intracoastal Waterway to nearby deepwater ports.
Victoria Facility Details
Close access to an existing dock, and ready access to the Intracoastal Waterway and deepwater ports, while remaining protected from Gulf weather events.
Sufficient aquifer water (entirely separate from residential supplies) to support the first train/plant and beyond.
115 acres, secured by option, in the Port of Victoria’s almost 3,000-acre Texas Logistics Center adjacent to the Victoria Barge Canal.
Nitrogen available over-the-fence from nearby Air Liquide pipeline. Adjacent O₂ pipeline for potential sales of gas byproduct from electrolysis.
Located within Foreign Trade Zone 155, and is pre-qualified for inclusion by the local FTZ Board. Membership allows for deferral of tariffs and duties until COD.

Texas’ Renewable Energy Leadership
Texas boasts the fastest renewable energy growth in the United States, giving the Lone Star State a competitive edge over all others when it comes to electric ammonia. Strong solar and wind resources in Texas create valuable, around-the-clock renewable energy. There really is no better place to build an electric ammonia plant than in Texas.
Working with the Local Community
First Ammonia understands that success depends on working together. Among multiple other site criteria, we chose Victoria for the invaluable partnerships we found with the Port of Victoria and the Victoria Economic Development Corporation (VEDC). Both the Port and the VEDC are hugely supportive and provide a local perspective so important for the project.
First Ammonia formally became a member of the VEDC in December 2024 to support continued economic growth in Victoria.

Our Commitment to our Partners in Victoria
As the project advances from its development phase toward the start of construction in 2027, we look forward to strengthening our ties with the Victoria community. This includes working with Victoria College to support educational programs there. First Ammonia wants to help prepare the community to take advantage of the jobs created in the electric ammonia industry.
